Criminal Justice or Forensic Science

This site is Fantastic!! Thank you for being so thoro in informing those who are looking into this career. I have a question for anyone who can answer this. I am currently in the medical field, with a strong laboratory background (Clinical Laboratory Scientist).

I am interested in taking another route and going into forensics, however I am confused as to what to do. Should I go back to school for criminal justice? or forensic science? I am interested in becoming a criminalist. If I chose the criminal justice route, how would I get into criminalistics? Forensic Science is not offered at any of the universities around, and would cause me to have to move, in which I cant do. Just inquiring. Thanks!
