DNA Question

I am writing a book in which a killer dumps a body in a river. How long would it be before any DNA the killer had inadvertently left on the body would disappear (the body would be naked and there would for example be no flesh under the fingernails? On the same point, if the killer wanted to clean a body to remove any DNA (semen, sweat, blood) what would be the best cleaner to use and why?
