Forensic Masters Program

I am a neurology nurse and have just obtained a forensic nursing degree. In April I will start work on my forensic psychology program. I am really more interested in trace evidence and DNA analysis so should I get my Masters in criminal justice? I have never been a police officer so do I stand a chance in this field?
