Hi there. I am a Forensic Serologist. I saw your post. Your parents want you to have something to "fall back on that pays well?" Define "pays well?"
A forensic scientist can easily make $50-80,000 a year, and a Forensic Pathologist, with a phD, can make $120-200,000 a year. I don't think that is too bad. Unless you want to be a top lawyer or doctor of another kind, it's pretty competititve.
