Hiring Process For A Forensic Scientist

Hello, I am currently a high school senior who has been accepted to a few universities as a forensic major. Is there a drug test for becoming a forensic scientist? Obviously a person cannot be doing drugs at the time of being hired, but say someone did, not too serious things such as marijuana, is it okay to be clean for a few years before seriously pursuing a job in forensic science? And what is the general time frame that he drug test dates back to?
