In relation to say, a cold case, is there a technique or technology developed in the last decade to allow an investigator to develop latent prints on a burnt out car?

I am a writer, and I am dealing (in the work) with a decade-old homicide in which the victim was Immolated in a vehicle, and I need to know, if the passage of time might have affected (in a positive way) the ability to gather specifically fingerprint evidence from the car.
